Tax Scam Alert!

By January 8, 2015April 28th, 2020No Comments

My wife picked up the attached voice mail message from our home answering machine. The caller claims to be from the IRS and is calling because of alleged tax fraud perpetrated by us. My wife immediately called me with some concern until I explained that it is a scam. If we were to call back we would be asked for personal information and a quick payment by credit card. What I find amusing is the closing, “You have a good day”.

Don’t be fooled. Remember that the IRS never initiates a contact with a taxpayer by phone or email, only by letter. If you get the scam phone call, visit the link below to the IRS web site for information about how to report it.
